Hey friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a day in my life so I decided to do a college Friday in my life.
Friday March 19, 2021
There weren’t a lot of pictures so bear with me as I describe my Friday. I woke up at 7:30 because I have my Sociology of the Family at 8:00, and this Friday I had a debate on whether or not marriage makes women happier and healthier. Since I was on the pro side, we went first. I think it went super well. My partner and I were super in sync even with the technology hiccups. Because Zoom, you know?
Tell me your thoughts. Do you think women are better off in marriage? They work less, they take on more household responsibilities, but they’re household income increases, they’re more emotionally satisfied when it comes to being committed in marriage. It’s truly a topic that warranted debate.
I went on a little walk to Juice Laundry for a shake, which I didn’t take a picture of until later. So keep reading!!

Then I went to get breakfast and snapped my usual sky picture. It looks pretty but Virginia is deceptively cold. I love having some fresh fruit in the morning, and ugh, it looks so bright, but Friday did not have friendly weather.
I layered up on my outfit because of the aforementioned fact on Virginia’s weather and I thought it was going to rain, but it didn’t. My rain jacket, I guess, can be taken as a fashion statement.
I was listening to my old Praise playlist and it got me really energized. Are you someone who makes playlists but never listens to them? Or are you someone who has a very few select playlists? Side note: my ~serve you~ playlist is fire!
I hopped on a bus to work and then headed off to lunch. Like I said, there aren’t many pictures. What I can tell you, though, is that I’ve been weirdly thinking about Catholicism more. Being in my Dostoevsky class, I’ve been able to learn more about the Eastern Orthodox Church but I feel like even despite my “upbringing” as a Catholic, I don’t know what they believe and why.

I feel like many people grow up with crazy Catholic school stories from their childhood. If you have any, let me know. I’d love to hear what you have to say!
Then I have this picture from the group chat in my Script Analysis class. If I take anything away from this class, it’s that humor is just a good way to release the tension in life. We were discussing Fences by August Wilson. It’s a LONG play but it’s good. There’s humor but it’s a tragedy. It discusses race and family and what it means to be a man.
I was given a gift from a friend: The Defining Decade. I read it on Kindle, so it’s nice to have a copy. Plus it’s signed by Meg Jay!! My walk back to work for my shift was super pretty. I took a different route that felt more homely and it has such beautiful houses. May want to look into real estate in Cville because those houses are gorgeous.

Love this caption from Bekah Martinez from Chatty Broads.

Got to work and was super lucky to hear a lecture on The Image of Christ in Dostoevsky’s Russia. Not a usual activity for a Friday in my life. I feel like Russian literature is such a niche interest for an American like me, but I loved this lecture. Having read half of The Brothers Karamazov, it was insightful and allowed me to learn more about the culture of the 1800s in Russia when it comes to religion. Such a fascinating topic!

This poem is perfect for our current situation in pandemic times. I’m exhausted from all the restrictions and I just want to hug people again. I had a shift at work in which I did not take any photos and am kind of mad at myself for.

But I did get Chick-fil-A. I got a different salad than usual, and I wish I hadn’t made that choice. My usual salad is perfect, whereas this one was weirdly fruity. I just am of the mind that sweet is on one side of the taste spectrum and savory is on the other. Trying to meld the two is a crime and someone should be prosecuted for that terrible idea.

Here’s the shake from above!!
For my late night activity, I did an internship application for this podcast Death, Sex, and Money. It’s good and definitely would not have been on my radar. I also royally forked my cover letter, but I have found a solution and will promptly be emailing the company.
For a late night activity, my dorm did Just Dance. I didn’t get any photos of us girls failing miserably at it (actually I was failing miserably at it), but we did do a throwback jam session to old songs. Rihanna’s Only Girl in the World. Nicki Minaj’s Moment 4 Life. Seriously, those songs were legitimately middle school. How am I a college junior?! Who gave me permission to get this old so quickly?
I did more homework after submitting the application and then I started to watch the Bachelor, like I do every college Friday in my life, legitimately, but I was finally asleep so I saved it for Saturday.
And then I did my night routine. That’s a college Friday in my life. Hope you enjoyed this insight into my life.
Signing off,
Gigi
