Goals for next semester + Motivational Quotes

In my recent post, 15 things you should do before you go to college, one of the things on my list was having goals for next semester. So, here are my goals for the second-year first semester. I’ve written them to keep myself accountable, and to remind myself of what I am trying to accomplish this year.

Goals for Fall 2019

Get at least 2 A’s

College is hard. I can’t even sometimes. There is stress and classes and so many things to do, so little time to do them. I really want to focus on my grades this semester. I want my GPA to go up, and I know that means a little more time in the library and a little less time traveling.

It hurts knowing I will not travel as much, but it will pay off once I finish this semester.

Get involved in 2 more clubs

Apparently, great things come in 2’s. I was really deeply involved in one club this past year, and one club last semester. I have two clubs on my college resume. However, working as a research assistant made it difficult to join other clubs. I really want to have a full college experience, and that includes getting involved.

I will NOT be attending the student activities fair because I already know what I want to join, and I don’t want to be conflicted by anything else. (If you know, you know.)

My primary clubs would be the school radio/podcast and the newspaper. However, I am also open to a service organization. If you are in Circle K, can you comment down below your experience?

Keep in touch with friends at home

In my friend group, I am known as the girl who lets her phone die for weeks at a time. While this isn’t true, my friends feel like it is because I never respond to any of their text messages. I love them, but I hate texting.

I want to get in the routine of FaceTiming friends every weekend, so we can catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives. That said, I don’t want to have a set time for FaceTiming because I want to be able to say yes to spontaneous adventures.

Reach for my priorities.

While I love adventures and traveling, I really want to assess every yes I say by my priorities. Every yes I say is saying no to something else. I don’t want to say yes to something that is out of the order of my priorities. I want to practice saying “I’ll get back to you on that” or “I’ll have to check that on my calendar.” Checking my calendar and my to-do lists before I say yes to something entails that I know exactly what I’m getting myself into as well as the consequences of my actions.

My priorities entail = God, Family, School, Friends in that order. So if I want to travel, I have to ask myself “do my other priorities need to be given attention?” “If I want to go out to lunch with a friend, have I completed all my assignments?”

Explore my college town

My last goal would have to be exploring my college town. I’ve traveled a lot this past school year, but I haven’t really explored the place that is my home away from home. I want to hike the mountains here. I want to go to the parks. I want to go downtown to a coffee shop to study. I don’t want to sit in my UVA bubble. There is a greater community that I really want to check out.

I want to go to Carter’s Mountain/Orchard. I want to go to Monticello. I want to attend more UVA basketball and volleyball games. I just want to live and see what Charlottesville has to offer. Here’s to CVille!
