Hi friends! It’s been a long time since I sat down and wrote on this blog. It was an unintended break. I had friends visiting for two weekends and I never finished writing the post that I had planned for the end of October.
Let me catch you up on some updates: I finished my internship in November (I am currently doing freelance for them, but that will end soon.) I applied for a different freelance position but said no because ultimately I want a full time job. My friend Chloe came and visited me and I’ll share more of that below. I had Karen come and visit me, and it’s always random because she’ll just text me randomly and I’ll get my house ready for her.
November was a weird month for me. I felt super funky and got into a rut. I watched a lot of television. I was lucky to see Zee before she headed back home to Delaware. In December, I finished Desperate Housewives, read a few cozy mystery novels, and rearranged my room. I also got to see Six on Broadway. The last time I went to a Broadway show was high school.
This month, I plan on attacking my Goodreads challenge, getting consistent again with scripture, and attempting to slow my spending.
Recap of Kate’s wedding
Chloe was my plus one for Kate’s wedding and it was really such a special time 💌

The day Kate and Ryan had been waiting for their wedding day! Chloe and I got ready in my room that Saturday morning. I was listening to my usual emo music as I do (I’ve been loving Mat Kerekes’ album SO MUCH), and she was doing her hair to get all fancy.

The wedding was at Trinity Wall Street, which is a beautiful Episcopal Church in downtown Manhattan. In the bridal suite, the ladies were jamming out to Taylor Swift and it was all a precious time of joy and excitement.

I didn’t get any photos of the actual ceremony as we were asked not to and I read one of the readings, but it was really holy. Seeing Kate’s dad give her away to Ryan was such a precious moment to witness.
Fun fact! Trinity Wall Street is where Alexander and Eliza Hamilton are married, so Chloe and I visited their graves while the bridal party got wedding photos. It was a little windy but honestly it was good weather for this time of year in New York City.

The wedding was small, so the brunch reception was held at this swanky hotel called The Beekman. The vibe of The Beekman was this high scale, classy, jazzy energy with lots of classic literature in the stacks.

I wished I got more photos of the food, but the lighting got dimmer and dimmer and it made Chloe and I feel really sleepy. I also got to meet up with Emily, a mutual friend of Kate and I’s, which was lovely!

After the reception made Chloe and I quite full, we changed our shoes (my heels and her flats) into sneakers to head over to Central Park.

We went uptown and then took the R to 5 Av and 59 Street to get to the Central Park pond. And we spent so long in Central Park that we kind of got lost 😂. I live a bit far to regularly see Central Park, so it’s not 100% the most familiar terrain for me, but it was cool to discover that you can actually go from the East Side to the West Side. If you have the chance to come see it in the fall, it’s pretty darn gorgeous.

When we got to the Upper West Side, I was back in familiar territory. Honestly, this neighborhood is kind of Kate and I’s neighborhood. We have so many memories here: coffee at maman, her birthday breakfast at Cafe 82nd, and just sweet lovely times together.
Chloe and I got a hot chocolate at this swanky market/coffee shop place, and then walked over to Miriam, a Mediterrean restaurant. We were both so full we ordered appetizers but it was an enjoyable time.
And we were both so tired that when we got back to my house, we fell asleep pretty quickly.

I had a lovely view in mind to take Chloe to in my favorite neighborhood, Brooklyn Heights. Brooklyn Heights really has everything: a long path to walk, brownstones, a cozy “downtown” where you can window shop and eat. We ended up going to the Brooklyn Promenade, getting bagels from Montague Bagels, and then journaling at Gregory’s Coffee together. A really sweet way to spend a Sunday in Brooklyn.

Then my cousin and I traveled to New Jersey to drop her at Newark, for her safe journey back home.
…
I feel pretty lucky that I’ve seen quite a few people this year from out of town. It always feels like a gift to get to enjoy their company in person, when our communication has mostly been text, calls, or FaceTime. Spend time with your friends!
Signing off,
Gigi
