snowy sunday in my life

This past weekend was the snowy storm that half the country was dreading. I figured I could share with you all the things I got up to while snowed in. Share with me what you got up to in the comments below!

Sunday January 25, 2026

I began with my quiet time. Honestly, I’ve been quite inconsistent with my quiet time lately, and this was my first time in a few days reading scripture. I’ve been reading in Exodus and I fear I am quite like the Israelites. The mistrust, the questioning God–I don’t think I ever related more. Waiting for the promise is a hard, hard journey.

As the morning went on, I ate breakfast – an egg sandwich (thanks Dad!) and watched a sermon from Reunion Hawaii about renewing your mind. Reunion Hawaii is not always the best with updating their Vimeo but it’s always a treat to hear a sermon from their church. I highly recommend going to watch the There’s Oil in the Jar series – highly encouraging for the start of the year.

I decided to continue working on a data analytics certification course. I started in November, forgot about it in December, and now I’ve picked it back up in January. I should finish it in the next week or so, which is exciting! You can always come back around to your goals. It’s never do or die.

I enjoyed a lunch of spaghetti and paired it with a BritBox show – Sister Boniface. While I enjoy Sister Boniface, I do wish it showed more of the life of the nuns in the monastery. Its predecessor, Father Brown, was much more church centric while still solving mysteries and at times being a comedy. If you enjoy nuns and a cozy mystery, I suggest the Sister Agatha series by Jane Willan.

At a later point, I picked up my knitting needles, which I haven’t picked up in a minute, while catching up on Youtube. I always feel like I need more time and then push it off. It’s so easy to do this for the things that aren’t “important.” Hobbies matter because they add joy to life, but since joy can’t be optimized, it gets treated as less important.

I had made some cookies and got to enjoy my baked goods! I want to share more of my love for baking. It’s been a very happenstance journey, and it’s made me realize that passion isn’t an instaneous thing. There’s so much talk around finding your passion, but the truth is passion is cultivated. And that takes time and attention. Yes, we should invest in natural abilities and cultivate them, but we can grow in passion for many things. 😊

I ended the night with some When Calls the Heart–a show I still deeply love and a testament to my love is actually watching it live as opposed to streaming. While the show is less frontier/historically accurate, it’s a really cozy show that lifts you up. Over the past few years, I’ve been looking for shows that don’t stress me out. Unfortunately shows like The Rookie really raises my stress levels, so I love shows like the Madame Blanc Mysteries or even just rewatching Fringe (Anna Torv is an amazing actress).

Apparently, there was a point during this week of chilly temperatures that New York City was colder than Alaska. In some ways, it’s nice to have a normal winter again, even if it means layering up.

Hope you dear friends are staying warm with hot tea and plenty of blankets!

Signing off,

Gigi
