May has been a wild month full of unknowns at every corner, yet rife with possibility. It is finally beautiful enough to enjoy the great outdoors and I, for one, am grateful. I hope you have a chance to enjoy the sweet smelling flowers and the birdsong that have finally arrived in full force.
Watching.

I have been a bit of a TV watcher as of late, despite my TBR list piling higher everyday. I just finished season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy (I’m watching it out of order). I have been enjoying the drama of Hope Street, a show about a small town in northern Ireland. It’s very soap opera-esque. I’ve been delighted by The Other Bennet Sister, about Mary Bennet, and honestly the BBC makes the best period dramas. I highly recommend if you’re a fan of Pride and Prejudice and want a out-of-canon sequel.
Reading.

I just finished Matrix by Lauren Groff, inspired by the same lecture as Canticle by Janet Rich Edwards was. I think Canticle is a far superior book, despite Groff’s renown. I just felt that Matrix was flat to me. There was so little action, and as much as I should have cared for Marie de France, I felt unmoved by her. I usually love books around the religious life, but I felt like I didn’t get the qualitative experience of Marie’s inner world, despite all the exposition and endless descriptions.
Currently, I’ve picked up The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves. Cleeves never disappoints. She knows how to write about the character’s interior states while immersing the audience fully in the action. I love how psychological she is and I am always along for the ride to figure out the murderer.
I am awaiting the next Domestic Diva cozy murder mystery come out!

Playing.

Currently, I’m in the throes of knitting my second sweater. I finally got to the body, which is where I watch a lot of TV and wait for the time to pass. My focus on my sweater has been keeping me from baking, but I have been eyeing making cinnamon swirl danish, which requires a puff pastry. Or making the Starbucks’ ham and swiss croissant.
Listening.
My favorite song has been Dogs by Citizen. It’s very upbeat and fun. I’ve been enjoying Noah Kahn, though I haven’t listened to him before The Great Divide. My favorites are Haircut, Willing and Able, 23, and Spoiled. Plus Doors and Paid Time Off. It’s a great album for a long road trip.
I am excited for Citizen’s upcoming album. It will come out on my birthday!
In terms of podcasts, I’m in the throes of the Wild at Heart’s Ruling Your Domain series, and I like the Rethink Your Algorithm episodes of The Last 5% with Jonathan Moynihan.
Looking (forward to).

Days at the park. Potential summer travel. Finishing my sweater and wearing it. Slow nights. Lingering over a good read. Ice cream. Making the oreo blizzard from Dairy Queen. Pausing to smell the roses. TJ runs.
Let me know what you’ve been enjoying and looking forward to!
Signing off,
Gigi
