work day in my life ðŸš•

Despite being at this job since March, I have yet to invite you into my routines. I figured I would share with you a simple normal day at work.

This morning was the first time in a while it felt like I had a difficult time getting up. It was pretty dark in my room and though I was tempted to remain in bed, I rallied.

I woke up at 6:30. My first real activity of the day is turning on my kettle for a cup of tea (though I always brush my teeth first thing!). I prefer doing things in the dark, in part because of a past of sharing my room with a cousin who didn’t like me turning on the light in the morning. Old habits die hard.

This morning I settled for the warmth of ginger tea. I propped onto my couch for my quiet time. This year I’ve been doing Bible in a Year. My particular plan is reading through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. Though I love 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel is a downer. Sin has a ripple effect.

With my quiet time limited to 30 minutes in the morning, it can be difficult to have time for deep prayer, but it’s definitely better than the days when I chose to move my quiet time at night.

I eat breakfast quickly and head out the door. My commute is brief but intense depending on the train troubles for the day.

My work consists of a lot of different things. Pitching articles to journalists, event planning and coordinating, data collection for our magazine, etc. I like that for the most part, I can leave work at work. And I love that it’s an international company, so I always learn something new about the world talking to our other offices.

I love to take lunch outside. I actually find it strange that people stay in the office. When it’s beautiful outside, the best place to be is outdoors. (Except when the mosquitoes come find you.) Today I was reading Mitford book 14, To Be Where You Are by Jan Karon.

Over the last month or so, I’ve been finding it hard to be where I am. But Jan Karon is a wonder and I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions with this book.

I leave work promptly at 5. I usually rest on my couch and have a snack.

After a shower and a meal, I enjoyed Jeopardy with my family.

I attempted to read some more of Middlemarch. It had a slow start with Dorothea, but I really enjoyed hearing about Lydgate and seeing Rosy Vincy’s character. But then it started to be about Fred Vincy and I got flashbacks to Rostov in War and Peace and I can’t bear it.

Decided that rewatching Sense and Sensibility. I adore watching Elinor and Edward fall in love so early in the beginning.

And the night ends with journaling around 10ish.

Hope you enjoyed!

Signing off,

Gigi
