Best Podcast Episodes of 2025

Hello, gentle readers! Somehow we’ve blinked and it’s December. Hope you’re keeping warm, perhaps with some hot chocolate and a cozy giant wearable blanket (true story!). I figured it would be fun this month to share with you all my favorites leading up to my favorite post of the year – my yearly highlights and life lessons!!!

This is the first installment of this 2025 series. Here are the best podcast episodes of 2025.

John Mark Comer on Rest and Sabbath on That Sounds Fun

Next to Beautiful Anonymous, That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs is my longest listened podcast. I probably found it in 2018 or 2019, and it’s been a staple ever since. That Sounds Fun features writers, pastors, musicians, and more that come and share with Annie what they’re walking through with God. John Mark Comer is one of my favorite authors, and so I’m tuned in when he speaks on a podcast.

This episode is about rest and emotional health and wrestling with the problem of pain. I had noticed that I actually don’t know what it means to rest and it can be uncomfortable to face the emotions that come with more time and space to decompress.

“If you’re emotionally crashing on the sabbath, your week is not ordered well.” Sometimes we say yes to many opportunities and we do not care for our bodies well, through little sleep and silence. Pay attention to your life architecture, your day to day, your month to month life structures. Rest won’t change systemic problems.

I loved John Mark Comer’s reality check. It’s so easy for Christians to project this ease-filled image. But “life is hard, spiritual growth is slow, and there are long seasons of not sensing God’s presence.”

What’s God Up To? With Blaine Eldredge on Wild at Heart

If you are in a season of confusion and you’re struggling to see God in it, this Wild at Heart series is for you. This series serves as a guide, light to see in the darkness. John and Blaine Eldredge go through a series of practices and questions to ask to orient yourself in a time of disorientation.

Sometimes you just don’t have words for the season you’re in. You just know it’s not where you want to be. In my case, I was dealing with a lot of work stress and I was able to pinpoint a false belief I had about God in this season.

Consider unaddressed disappointment. What are some false beliefs that may be putting up a block between you and God? Where do your thoughts go repeatedly lately? What are you longing for?

The series is worth watching all the way through and watching more than once. And take notes!

A Little bit of Oil Goes a Long Way on The Handlebar podcast

The Handlebar podcast is where various worship leaders come together to answer questions from young adults. This one was about being consistent spiritually in the midst of life’s chaos. Having a landing place is hard, particularly in some seasons, and learning to have a set aside time to connect with God is so important!

A good episode for when you need to go back to the basics.

How Specific Prayers Unlock Big Blessings on With Love, Always

Prayer is always an exciting topic for me. In fact, I may have spent more time reading books on prayer (Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools, A Praying Life, Moving Mountains, etc.) than actually praying. I enjoyed listening to this episode as the hosts talked about praying specifically for a set time. I actually did my own prayer challenge inspired by this episode.

The Blind See and the Deaf Hear with Will Hart on Heaven Meets Earth

If you want to hear amazing stories of God moving in supernatural ways, this episode is for you. A lot of Will Hart’s life’s work is in Mozambique and he shares stories of healings and spiritual warfare and doing the work of spreading the gospel as a missionary.

So often we think that because we don’t see God doing amazing things near us, that He isn’t doing anything at all. Let these stories of faith and the power of the Spirit encourage you!!!

There’s Oil in the Jar by Reunion Hawaii Church

This was by far the hardest one to choose, but though I’ve listened to many sermons this year from Reunion Hawaii, it’s always good to start at the beginning. The passage this sermon is based on is 2 Kings 4. This sermon would honestly be great to listen to going into 2026, as an encouragement that God can provide and do amazing things in our lives.

Oftentimes, what we bring to the table is faith and action.

“Miracles don’t always come in manna, but in the loaves and fishes you already have.” A good reminder to work with what you have in front of you.

“Faith is what prayer requires.”
