Quote Series #1: John Piper

I have a tendency to daydream, to lay back and have dream of a different life for myself. We all wish ourselves away, not in a dark way, only that we wish we looked better, or were better at school, or were the person that everyone desired to be like. I dream myself unlonely, surrounded … Continue reading Quote Series #1: John Piper

Being Uncertain

Last weekend, I went away to northern Virginia. My 2 and ½ hour ride led to me to a place in which I encountered a high ropes course. I had done a course like this before, but this one felt ominous. Still, I felt confident on the ground that I would be able to do … Continue reading Being Uncertain

What I’ve Learned from the First Semester of College

It’s the beginning of February, which means somehow, I’ve finished my first semester of college and I’ve settled into my second. Even with the hustle and bustle of college life, the classes that are picking up speed, and all of the meetings I find myself at, I still think it’s important to reflect on the past. I moved from New York to Virginia, and found myself in what I would call the middle of nowhere, a small town in Virginia.

The Importance of Rest

In today’s society, we are so eager to be productive.  I know it seems hypocritical that I’ve just written a post on how to stay productive and am now criticizing productivity in the world. I believe we should be productive. However, there’s something to be said for taking a break, for settling in and looking … Continue reading The Importance of Rest

Life Update of January 2019

I’m currently in my 3rd week in my 2nd semester of first year. It’s the most unreal thing to be back and yet it feels as natural as ever (if that makes any sense). This month my music taste kind of reverted to my high school self. For most of high school. I really liked … Continue reading Life Update of January 2019

How to be productive

No matter what time of year, we can always try improving and becoming the best versions of ourselves. It’s when we give way to our desires of the now that our ambition and productivity stops. We try to serve ourselves via instant gratification, forgetting the progress we’ve made leading up to this point. We have … Continue reading How to be productive

Loneliness & Friendship Studying Life with Gigi

Loneliness and Friendship

Walking into the dining hall can be anxiety inducing. After a long day of classes, you are ready to shove some food in your mouth and that’s the only thing on your mind. After settling down with whatever you’ve decided was edible, you look around and find the same situation - you are alone. After … Continue reading Loneliness and Friendship

What’s the rush?

There are all these timelines. These moments where we are expected to have fulfilled a goal. Graduated. Or employed. Or engaged. Or married. Or pregnant. Our definitions for our lives don’t matter when there are other voices crying out to us their opinions. Sometimes the world is even louder than our own souls. It’s hard … Continue reading What’s the rush?

Mastering Life in the Mundane

In the age of technology, we know the celebrities in a way we didn’t before. We can now see Kylie Jenner on her luxury vacation via her Snapchat or hear the political views of Trump via Twitter. No longer do we need the paparazzi to tell us what our favorite celebrities are doing. On Youtube, we can easily watch videos of what people living extraordinary lives look like, We see the boat trips and the Gucci bags and the trips from LA to Greece.

My New Year’s Resolutions

I absolutely love New Year's! There’s something about having a fresh start and knowing that everyone gets a do-over, some motivation to get started on those dreams we lose in the day to day life. Some people hate New Year's because they feel like they never get to their dreams. But to me, everyone acknowledges that we all need a clean slate after some pretty rough days.

What I Learned in 2018

We like to believe all of our dreams are really best for us, but honestly, the expectations we put on ourselves can be harmful. I thought coming into college I’d still be an amazing A student. That dream was just not for me.

What I’ve Learned From Podcasts

This year I hopped onto one of the hottest trends. I got an iPhone and swiftly fell into the world of podcasts. I’m honestly terrible at finding new music for myself to listen to - I like what I like, why would I want to change? - and so, when I get tired of listening to my music, I really like to listen to someone else speak on a variety of things - Faith, love, life, etc.
